Police Investigate Role of Off-Duty Cops in Assault

The Capital-Gazette reports that off-duty police officers may have been at the scene of an assault at a Gambrills bar last month.

Police officers from various law enforcement agencies may have been present when a man was assaulted at a pub in Gambrills on March 23, the Capital-Gazette reported.

Anne Arundel County police are investigating what role, if any, the officers may have played in the assault at Irish Channel, which left a 28-year-old man hospitalized. Police said last month that the man was knocked to the floor and kicked. He received medical treatment in Bowie, but police were not alerted to the incident until the victim's father called police the next day.

The Capital-Gazette said the Prince George's County Police department is also looking into the incident and has been contacted by investigators from Anne Arundel County police.
