3 Hospitalized in Possible Road Rage Incident

Multiple men were sent to Maryland Shock Trauma after an accident and stabbing near the Honda Powersports store in Gambrills.

A 22-year-old man was seriously hurt Monday afternoon, and two others sustained minor injuries, after a car accident and possible incident of "road rage" violence.

Lt. Cliff Kooser of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said two vehicles collided at about 4:30 p.m. near the Honda Powersports store on Maryland Route 3 in Gambrills.

Kooser said emergency responders took the 22-year-old man to Maryland Shock Trauma by ambulance. Another man and his son, ages unknown, were sent to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with minor injuries.

Anne Arundel County police spokesman Lt. James Fredericks said the man taken to Shock Trauma is believed the to be the man who carried out the attack on the other two men.

A third person, Fredericks said, was hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the crash.

A Chrysler PT Cruiser and a black SUV were facing north after careening into a ditch on Maryland Route 3.

Fredericks said police are investigating whether the crash and stabbing were the result of a dispute that had started earlier.

“It’s kind of odd for them to crash like that, so we’re thinking something might have precipitated it," Fredericks said. "We’re trying to figure out where this started.”

The incident led to backups on Route 3 northbound during the evening rush hour.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated which individual was taken to Shock Trauma. Patch regrets the error.

"Got to a red light and got out to apologize" come on... What was there to apologize for? I was born at night but not last night. Sounds like two tough guys crossed paths and had a big d__k contest.

No one but those involved actually know what transpired. Of course the ignorant ones are blowing smoke here. Wow Carol you don't sound too much like a "PhD" type with that one-sided set of comments. Let the police do their job and justice will hopefully prevail. Too many armchair opiniated people as usual.

My apologies to Brittany. I reported only what I heard on the news (NBC 4 Washington) at 4:30 AM before I left for work. And having encountered another young punk like the one who attacked Tiffany's dad last week in Annapolis, who--with a child in the back seat--leapt out of his sportscar and spit in my face because I dared to be coming into the parking lot behind him as he was backing out (without even looking, despite being hidden by a high fence), I guess I am as fed up as one can get with the rudeness and stupidity in this area. Another couple of upstanding young citizens are on trial for taking the lives of nine other youngsters over a cheap costume-jewelry bracelet. When does it end??? I stand by my original assessment, now that the news has been updated to a greated degree of accuracy--only the comment applies as it originally did, only to the knife-wielding aggressor. Bad enough he and the driver of that car endangered their own lives by their utterly reckless behavior--they could have killed the people in the other car, and in third or fourth or fifth cars, if it had played out differently.
