Woman Seriously Hurt in Townhouse Fire

Firefighters rescued a woman from an end-unit townhouse on Foxdale Court in Crofton.

A woman sustained serious burns and smoke inhalation from a fire in Crofton on Tuesday afternoon, a fire department spokesman said. 

Firefighters rescued the woman, approximately 50 years of age, from the second floor at an end-unit townhouse at the 1800 block of Foxdale Court, according to Division Chief Keith Swindle of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

The woman was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center with serious and life-threatening injuries, Swindle said.

Swindle said they responded to the fire at about 1:40 p.m. It took 23 firefighters to get the blaze under control in about 40 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation and there was no immediate estimate on the cost of damage.
