Crofton Teams Shine at Destination Imagination Finals

Teams from Crofton Woods Elementary and Crofton Middle School were among the participants in the global competition in Knoxville, TN.

Teams from several local schools took part in the Destination Imagination Global Finals in Knoxville, TN last week. 

The teams fared well in a series of challenges that test teams' ability to think creatively and solve problems.

  • The Crofton Middle School "SuperStarfish" finished 7th out of 48 teams in the Wind Visible event, a science challenge bases on wind energy.
  • The "Golden Starfish" team from Nantucket Elementary School finished 15th out of 45 teams in the Wind Visible elementary school division.
  • The Crofton Woods Elementary "Kreative Kids" finished 24th out of 53 teams in the Twist-O-Rama event, which challenges teams to build a structure that can withstand a hit. 
  • The AACPS "CreateDominateInnovate" team finished 22nd out of 48 elementary school teams in the In the Zone event, a technical challenge based on car safety and power.
  • The School of the Incarnation's "AwKwArD S1L3NC3" team finished 24th out of 55 teams in the In Disguise event, a fine arts challenge based on costumes and theater.
  • The Crofton Woods Elementary "Sumo Minds" finished 27th in the Real to Reel event, , which challenges teams to find and solve a community problem, then film a documentary about it.
  • The Waugh Chapel Elementary "Coral Helpers" finished 29th out of 39 teams in the Real to Reel event
