Roundz Gourmet Market, a culinary shop in Gambrills, is taking registration for a series of cooking classes focusing on kitchen basics and haute cuisine.
Each 2-hour, hands-on class will be held at Roundz Gourmet Market, located at 2299 Johns Hopkins Road in Gambrills, under the direction of award-winning Chef Zachary Pope.

Knife Skills & Vegetable Cookery
Jan. 9, 12, 16, 19 – 7:30 p.m.
Knife Skills: Chef Pope will discuss how to choose and use the right knife. Students should bring their favorite kitchen knife for demonstration. Topics covered include the following: The Anatomy of a Knife; Different Knives for Different Jobs; Proper Posture Makes the Cut; Is Your Favorite Knife Right For You?
Vegetable Cookery: The Vegetable Cookery portion of this class will show you how to prepare vegetables in so many ways that your family won’t even recognize them, but they will love them! Topics covered include the following blanching, boiling, searing, frying.
Quick Chicken & Fine Fowl
Jan. 23, 26, 30 and Feb. 2 - 7:30 p.m.
Chef Pope will work with students on quick preparation for rushed weeknight dinners as well as a gourmet approach when you have more time. Topics covered will include the following: The Big Picture: Cooking Chicken for Multiple Meals; Match Your Seasoning with your Preparation; Rubs vs. Marinades; Grill, Roast, Sauté?
