Golf Tournament Helps Tuition-Strapped Students

School of The Incarnation held its 12th annual golf tournament Monday morning at the Crofton Country Club.

Registration opened at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The event is a tuition assistance fundraiser for SOTI students.

Golf Tournament co-chairs Kerrie Smith and Mike Thomas said the annual event gives the Crofton and Gambrills community a chance to enjoy golf while helping students pay for school. 

Smith, a SOTI kindergarten teacher also has children attending the school. She said the tuition assistance goes a long way to help families seeking a Catholic education in tough economic times.

More than 135 golfers registered for the tournament according to Thomas, a parent volunteer. Fifteen additional parent volunteers worked registration, concessions and a raffle.

The silent auction raffle included:

• Foursome golf packages to local and beach golf courses
• A Pandora bracelet
• Hockey paraphernalia autographed by members of the Washington Capitals

The golf tournament also offered up a chance to win two tickets to the SOTI annual “Destination Incarnation” gala, another fundraiser for the school. The tickets are valued at $150.
