Nantucket Elementary Principal Named Outstanding Technology Leader in Education

Principal Diana Strohecker of Nantucket Elementary in Crofton receives state award.

The Maryland Society for Educational Technology has named Principal Diana Strohecker of Nantucket Elementary School the state’s 2011 Outstanding Technology Leader in Education.

"There is–and should be–an urgency when it comes to preparing children for the digital future that awaits them," Dr. Strohecker said in a release from Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS). "I believe we all have a responsibility to do whatever we can to provide our students with the resources that will help them excel, and on behalf of the teachers and staff at Nantucket, I am honored and humbled that our collective efforts are being recognized through this award."

According to AACPS, Strohecker has been an educator in the county for 34 years and principal at Nantucket Elementary since it opened in August 2008.

The award will be presented at a conference in Baltimore in April and Nantucket Elementary will reportedly receive $1,000 worth of technology equipment as part of the award.
