Patrick Feeks to be Honored at Seahawks Football Game

The fallen Navy SEAL's family will be part of a ceremonial coin toss before South River takes on highly-ranked Old Mill High.

Patrick Feeks, the Navy SEAL from Edgewater who died in August while serving in Afghanistan, is set to be honored Friday night at South River High’s final home football game of the year.

The 28-year-old Navy SEAL was killed Aug. 16 with seven other Americans and four Afghans when his helicopter crashed while fighting insurgents.

To honor Feeks and his service, South River High invited his family to take part in a ceremonial coin toss before the big game Friday night. Additionally, both Old Mill and South River’s teams will line up on the field during the coin toss to honor the fallen local hero, said South River High’s Athletic Director Dave Klingel.

South River High’s football team takes on highly-ranked Old Mill High on Friday at the adjusted kick-off time of 7 p.m. The game will most likely be a packed house, but honoring Feeks is something that will make the game truly special, Klingel said.

“Just honoring the family as a whole for their commitment … it’s something we’re excited to do,” Klingel said. “It’s going to be very special.”

The Seahawks hold a record of 7-2, while the Patriots are 8-1. Kick-off is at 7 p.m., an hour later than usual because the girls soccer team has a game earlier in the evening, Klingel said.

i wonder what this young man died for? it is sad, but hard questions need to be answered? Don't give me some bullshit that he died for our freedom on the other side of the world, he died because our politicians want our young men and women dead in the graveyard of empires, i wonder how they will convince us Iran is an eminent threat to the united states? I would hand deliver any nation a hydrogen weapon if they get rid of israel, the main reason behind all American intervention in the middle east and probably around the world! "the American congress is, Israeli occupied territory" Patrick Buchanan
