Public Schools Dismiss Early

Teachers will become the students at in-service training. Anne Arundel County Public School have a two hour early dismissal September 14, 2011.

Anne Arundel County Schools will dismiss two hours early for all students, according to the school’s website.

Afternoon pre-kindergarten and E.C.I students will not have classes.

AACPS staff will participate in a professional development session entitled “Attacking the Gap!” One of Superintendent Dr. Kevin Maxwell's stated goals is to close the achievement gap in Anne Arundel County.

According to the website, Closing the Gap, the achievement gap is "a gap in academic achievement [that] persists between minority and disadvantaged students and their white counterparts."

Anne Arundel County has made some progress in this area, but the gap is not yet closed.
