School Board Meeting Agenda - Nov. 2, 2011

The Board of Education will receive an update on Anne Arundel County Public Schools' efforts to enhance safe and supportive learning environments for all of its students at its next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, November 2, 2011.
The efforts are part of Goal II of the current Strategic Plan, which runs through June 2012. The plan aims to eliminate the achievement gap and bring all students to or above state standards. The complete plan can be found in the School System Planning section on the front page of the AACPS website, www.aacps.org.

Wednesday’s meeting will be held in the Board Room at the Parham Building, 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis. The Board will meet at 8:30 a.m. to vote to go into closed session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel, and negotiations. Closed session is not open to the public. The general session of the meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 10:00 a.m.

The general session of Wednesday’s Board meeting will be broadcast live on AACPS-TV, which can be found on Channel 96 on Comcast and Broadstripe, and Channel 36 on Verizon. Rebroadcasts are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. the day after the meeting and 2:00 p.m. on subsequent Sundays.

Strategic Plan workshop

Shortly after the conclusion of Wednesday's meeting, the Board will hold a workshop on the creation of the school system’s new Strategic Plan, which is scheduled to be adopted by the Board later this school year. The plan will guide the school system’s efforts over the next five years.

The workshop is open to public, but no public testimony will be taken.
