The Chamber’s Education Committee is getting stronger and “wanted to reach out to local schools to let them know we’re out there to provide services and support them,” Wilson said.

Nantucket Elementary is requesting items such as large crayons in 16 pack boxes, yellow highlighters, blunt scissors, folders (red, blue, yellow, and green – preferably plastic), and zippered pencil pouches.

Gretchen Ostrom, guidance counselor at Crofton Meadows, said the top items her school needs are glue sticks, composition books, and tissues. We’d be grateful for any donations, she added.

Each elementary school has its own supply list, but the items listed are very similar. Backpacks do not need to be filled to be donated.

The Chamber will collect items through August 8.
