Zany Fun Coming to Crofton Middle

Students are preparing for a musical, based on the books of Dr. Seuss, that will run March 16-25.

Students at already have the reputation of being a talented group with successful past shows such as last year's . They're currently hard at work on Seussical The Musical, a zany and colorful play based on the books of children’s author Dr. Seuss.

The presented by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization will open on March 16 and run over two weekends through March 25. Tickets, which are date-specific with reserved seating, cost $7 and are currently on sale. Visit croftonmusical.org for details or email cmstickets@gmail.com.

The show weaves together Dr. Seuss’s most popular stories and famed characters and takes the audience from the Jungle of Nool to Whoville to McElligot’s Pool and beyond! It features Jo Jo, a little boy with a big imagination, played by Will Schoeller and loveable Horton the elephant, portrayed by Ellis Carroll, who along with some high-spirited friends and animals, journey through a wild adventure set to playful music. Erin Daniel is the mischievous Cat in the Hat. Cora Haas has the role of Gertrude, a prim and proper bird who longs for a dazzling tail, and Ally Berrich is Mayzie, the coquettish bird who already has one. Kyle Heflin and Bronte Cook play Whoville’s charming Mayor and Mrs. Mayor. Abby Kerr is the sassy Sour Kangaroo.

They lead a group of more than 90 students who are taking part in the production as cast and crew.  The show boasts many major musical dance production numbers performed by a large ensemble.  The PTO welcomes back Vicki Smith as director and choreographer and Sean Lane as the show’s musical director. The team has been working since late fall on the play, which is always a spring highlight in the Crofton community. Many local businesses have contributed to the show effort with program ads, donations, and other sponsorships.
