Alec Lemon Goes Undrafted, Signs With Texans

NFL teams did not select the former Arundel wide receiver, but he'll have the chance to play for Houston as an undrafted free agent.

The conventional wisdom leading into the NFL Draft was that Alec Lemon would be selected sometime Saturday between the 4th and 7th rounds.

But the former Arundel High and Syracuse star never heard his name called.

However, the wide receiver will get a shot at a professional football career after signing with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent, SportsRadio610 in Houston reported. Family members confirmed the signing on Facebook.

After the draft ended Saturday, social media was filled with football fans who suggested Lemon was one of the best players left to be unselected.

Lemon set several records for receiving at Arundel and also set a Syracuse record with 70 receptions in 2012.

By signing as an undrafted free agent, Lemon is not guaranteed a spot on the Texans, but will likely be invited to training camp, where he can earn his way onto the roster.
