Crofton Girls Battle In Lacrosse Tournaments

Local recreation lacrosse teams take part in Anne Arundel post-season tournaments.

Several Crofton girls’ lacrosse teams have fared nicely this spring in the league run by Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks.

The Crofton team that played in the “Character” Junior Division had a 3-4 record late in the season, according to the league’s web site. They then lost to GORC in the post-season quarterfinals last Saturday. Sean Logan is the coach of this Crofton squad.

Coach Carolyn Noe’s team had a 3-6 record around playoff time, and they were knocked out in the round of 16, falling to St. Mary’s.

The Crofton Fury in the “Advancement” (also Junior) division has found some of the best success so far this year. They were 5-2-1 and, in the playoffs, advanced to the semifinals where they were scheduled to meet Bel Air a few days ago.

Coach Charles Schoenberger’s team was 2-4-1 during the season and was scheduled for a quarterfinal match-up in the Middie C division earlier in the week.

In the “Drive” Middle division, coach Robert Coar’s Crofton team won its first five games and sat in first place before the playoffs.

The Crofton team guided by Kimberly McNemar posted a 6-0-1 record. That group was scheduled to play in the round of 16 of the playoffs.

Crofton’s team that plays in the “Agility” Middle division rolled to a 7-0-1 mark during the season and found more success in the playoffs for coach Todd Levitt.

They beat GORC in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round of the Middie A playoffs. After that, Crofton was to meet the Devil Doggs in the semifinals.
