Seahawks Host Invitational Meet
South River High School boys' cross country team hosted the first invitational meet of the season.
South River High School hosted the first invitational meet of the cross country season on Saturday. Coach Josh Carroll ran a smooth event from start to finish hosting almost all of the county schools and Waldorf’s North Point High School.
The boys’ varsity team went into the meet with the goal of having all seven varsity runners finishing the 5k course in less than 20 minutes.
Team captain, Ryan Kleintank said, “We were really pleased with our top seven runners today. We met our goal with all seven of our runners coming in under 20 minutes.”

Runner Brian Anderson said, “We didn’t know what to expect going into the race. So with these results we have the opportunity to get a feel for our position going into the rest of the season.”
But Tyler Sadka pointed out that it isn’t all about the results on the course.

“We are out here to do our best,” Sadka said, “but we are also here to have fun. Today we did both.”
