Soccer and Field Hockey Playoffs Set

Arundel and South River could play for a regional title, as the MPSAA girls soccer tournament gets under way Thursday. 

The brackets for both the girls and boys state soccer tourneys have been released, as well as the bracket for field hockey. 

Here's a look at who the local teams will play. 


Girls Soccer

Arundel is the top seed in the Class 4A East bracket, and has earned a first-round bye. The girls will play either Glen Burnie or North County in the second round. South River earned the second seed and will play either North Point or Great Mills. Arundel and South River could face each other in the regional final. 

Boys Soccer

South River and Arundel each earned No. 6 seeds in the Class 4A East bracket. South River will open on the road at Great Mills, while Arundel will travel to Chesapeake. 

Field Hockey 

Arundel and South River each earned No. 2 seeds in the Class 4A East bracket. South River has an opening round bye and will then face North Point. Arundel also has a first-round bye and will face Meade in the second round.
