South River Sports Equipment Swap July 18

Sporting equipment can be expensive, South River Youth Athletics wants to help parents swap kids' gear.

So your kid bugged you mercilessly to play field hockey last year. You forked over $85 for the shoes and $100 for the stick. Now the coach is telling you that she needs a different size, and you don't really feel like shelling out another $200 for eight weeks of actual playing time.

Or maybe you are an earth-friendly type who can't bear to throw out outgrown soccer cleats.

Why not swap with an older player who has outgrown her old equipment and donate what you have at the house to a younger player?

South River Youth Athletics had their first equipment swap in spring 2011, and it was such a hit with parents, they've decided to do it again.

On Monday (July 18) at (behind Edgewater Elementary), show up between 5:30 and 7 p.m. to swap your old equipment for something previously-loved.

This time around, they will be swapping football, soccer and field hockey equipment. You can donate gently used cleats and other equipment that your children have outgrown. Swap up in size to fit your child.

Equipment for both boys and girls, including cleats, shin guards, balls and pads can be donated on Monday during football practice.

There is no cost to swap, and there is no need to donate in order to "shop."
