Anne Arundel County Public Schools announced this morning that public schools are closed on Tuesday due to inclement weather. The county received sleet that turned to snow overnight, leaving around 2 inches of snow in most areas.

"Our crews have been working on clearing main and arterial roads, and will continue operations throughout the morning commute and the rest of the day," said County Executive John R. Leopold in a release. "We are urging motorists to exercise caution as the roads are slippery and many residential streets are snow packed but passable."

A release stated the county has used 1,543 tons of salt and 90 gallons of calcium chloride to treat main roadways, which are mostly wet or slush covered.

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) advises that commuters check road conditions on the website by clicking on “CHART” to see live traffic cameras and incident updates.
