‘A Healthy Step’ Helping Domestic Violence Survivors

A Gambrills shoe store is taking steps to help Anne Arundel County survivors of domestic violence living in Annapolis' Arden House.

shoe store in the Village at Waugh Chapel plans to donate 70 shoes and slippers to help the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County’s Arden House.

The Annapolis-based shelter helps women and children who have escaped abusive relationships, according to the YWCA’s website.

“They are truly survivors. It’s a cause that get’s overlooked,” A Healthy Step owner Dave Lewis said.

He said he will deliver the shoes to the center the week of Jan. 30.

“There’s a lot of people in our area that need help," Lewis said. "I think that helping children, more than ever, helps break that cycle of violence. I want to let them know that there are people out there that care. I’ve given to them in the past, it’s a worthy cause.”
