Community 5: Crofton Library Volunteens

Each week Patch introduces you to Croftonites with five questions, helping to learn more about the people in our community.

Kirel McKeon and Lauryn Jackson talk about their experience working with the library's Volunteen program.

Patch: How was your experience working with the Crofton Library this summer?

Kirel McKeon: Working with the library’s Volunteen program has been really fun and very enlightening.

Patch: If you had to choose one reason to get more Volunteens at the library, what would it be?

Kirel McKeon: I would tell other teens it’s a great environment and it’s fun to encourage kids to sign up for the reading program. It helps kids to learn how to read and to enjoy it.

Patch: What is the best part about working as a library Volunteen?

Lauryn Jackson: It makes me really excited to see all of the little kids excited about reading. It has been super fun working with the Crofton Library this summer.

Patch: How has the “One World, Many Stories” summer program impacted your life?

Lauryn Jackson: This program makes me want to read more and it definitely gives kids something to look forward to during the summer.

Patch: Do you plan to work as a Volunteen next summer?

Kirel McKeon and Lauryn Jackson: Yes and we can’t wait.
