‘Grace Gives’ Wraps Missionary Service Week

The Grace Baptist Church wrapped up “Grace Gives” Thursday with two car washes and various service projects around Route 3 and Annapolis Road.

Many Grace Baptist parishioners hail from Crofton and Bowie. “Grace Gives” offers volunteers a chance to take a mission trip in their own backyards, according to the church’s website.

More than 300 church members blocked off five days and spent time sharing the love of Christ, according to the website.

Hannah Stevens was among the 130 youth volunteers that washed cars for free. Stevens worked with a team outside the Crofton Centre Kmart on Route 3 near Davidsonville Road. Another volunteer team cleaned cars at the on Annapolis Road in Bowie.

Grace Baptist’s Dave Redmond spent Thursday helping the youth volunteers outside the Kmart.

“Some of these kids spent the mornings helping out at the church’s free sports camp,“ said Redmond. “Others were out and about fixing up homes with adult volunteers for those in need. They helped the elderly, single moms, anyone who needed their help”

Tony Villafane was among the 150 volunteers doing home improvement projects around Crofton and Bowie.

“Grace Gives” volunteers also went door-to-door collecting canned goods. They also conducted “random acts of kindness” each day with activities such as handing out bottles of cold water to people at Bowie’s off Northview Drive.
