We hope you enjoyed Thursday's balmy temps, because the next few days in the Crofton area are going to be colder and wetter than a dog's nose

The National Weather Service said the rain will continue through Friday night, with a 100 percent chance of precipitation. Friday's highs in the low 50s will drop to around 37 degrees.

Rain is likely for Saturday morning, though the weather is expected to clear after 7 a.m. Highs should be in the low 40s during the day. Saturday's overnight forecast is dry and cloudy, but temperatures will plummet to 29 degrees.

On Sunday, the weather service is calling for a 90 percent chance of precipitation and highs around 35 degrees. Snow is likely before 1 p.m., when it will change to rain or sleet. A quarter-inch to a half-inch of precipitation is possible.

NWS is calling for a "significant weather event" Sunday night and into Monday morning, saying snow and ice accumulations are likely. Freezing rain or sleet are expected before 9 p.m., with sleet or snow expected between 9 p.m. 1 a.m., at which point it should switch over to rain. One to two inches of snow and sleet, and a quarter-inch of ice or more may accumulate Sunday night and into Monday. Temperatures will be around 32 degrees.
