Lewis Myers has owned and operated Right at Home In-Home Care and Assistance throughout our local communities for the last couple of years. Recently, his business was able to open up new offices in Anne Arundel and Prince Georges Counties to better serve the elderly and disabled in our communities. Myers drew from personal experiences helping his grandfather to launch himself into running his own business to service a portion of the population that he felt was underserved. In a recent Q&A, Myers explains the who, what, where, when and why in this business spotlight.

When did you start at Right at Home?

I took over Right at Home from previous owner on September 2nd, 2012.  We cover Montgomery, Prince Georges and Anne Arundel Counties in Maryland.

What did you do before owning Right at Home?

I designed and ran patient support programs for patients with rare and chronic diseases on behalf of several pharmaceutical companies. I gained an abundance of experience within the healthcare industry in dealing with the day-to-day issues of patients suffering from diseases such as MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Crohn’s disease.

Why did you start with Right at Home?

It has been a dream to run my own business. I was drawn to elderly and disabled sector after my experience with grandfather. When he passed away, there was no alternative to going into a nursing home. I saw the opportunity to be able help patients stay at home, rather than seek care outside of the home.

What services do you provide to the Annapolis area?

While Right at Home has been serving the Annapolis community for over 10 years, we felt we could better serve the market by opening an office right in town. With a local presence in Anne Arundel County, more of the aging population can benefit from our highly trained, professional caregivers that help them stay independent in their own homes, where they are more comfortable, for a longer period.  Our services range from companionship and medication reminders, all the way to total care for those individuals that need assistance with the activities of daily living.

In addition to services we provide, we also organize discussions and educational events within the senior community. We work with senior centers and government entities to help seniors take better care of themselves by arranging training sessions and provide education regarding services that are available.

Where is your new office in Anne Arundel County?

1997 Annapolis Exchange Parkway, Suite 300, Annapolis, MD 21401
