Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church was founded in December 1967 and moved into its current building on Crofton Parkway in 1975. The Education wing was added in 1992. Rev. Elizabeth D. McLean joined the church as pastor in February. She has introduced a variety of new activities including Noak's Art Ministry which begins with a Blessing of the Animals Service on Sunday, June 9 at 1:00 p.m. All types of animals are welcome and the service is open to everyone in the Crofton area. POP offers one Sunday morning worship service at 10:30 a.m. Summer Sunday School programs include adult classes at 9:30 a.m. the first two Sundays of June and July. The youth of the church will have several activities. The elementary school students will explore the Bible through comic strips. Their class begins at 10:50 following the Time With Young Christians chat during the service. The congregation participates in a variety of activities including mission work, community service projects and congregational activities. Ministries include the CCCC, Light House Shelter, Sarah's House and Backpackis for students and various other ministries. There are men's and women's breakfast groups and lunch groups on a monthly basis. The Forum is a new program of lunch and a speaker who will discuss activities or events in the area. The program is open to all.
