Arundel Community Mourns Loss of 'Sweet Girl'

Megan McCormack passed away last week at the age of 19.

Every once in a while, Megan McCormack would ask her friends about heaven. What was it like? Should she be afraid of it? The questions were purely hypothetical at the time. But friends and family reflected deeply on those conversations after learning of her death last week at age 19. “It just seemed so untimely and very unfair,” close friend Molly Sinnott said. “But Megan and I used to talk about heaven a lot … I know that she knew she would be safe in heaven. I always told her to not be afraid of it. I’m glad we had the chance to talk about those things.” By all accounts, Megan was a happy teen who enjoyed playing video games, going to the movies and laughing at TV shows, especially Family Guy. She was an honor roll student at Arundel …

Mrs. Glenn was definitely an iconic presence in Crofton, and she'll certainly be missed by so many of us in the community. But it's not true that she "lived in Crofton all of her life." She was born and raised in the Marshfield area of Massachusetts, and graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston in the 1950s as a French major and Spanish minor. As several people mentioned in the article, she …   more ›

Farewell to Schaefer Begins in Annapolis

Schaefer's body will lie in state Monday at the State House, then be transported by motorcade to Baltimore City Hall.

When former governor, and iconic Maryland political figure, William Donald Schaefer arrived at the State House for the final time Monday morning, the crowd gathered wasn't overwhelming. But by the time the doors opened just after 10 a.m., a line of more than 100 people wrapped around the side of the State House. Waiting under a sea of sunlight, the crowd was diverse, ranging from elderly priests to young State House aides. While ages and occupations varied, most people seemed set on paying their respects for one simple reason: because of what Schaefer had done for the city of Baltimore and the state of Maryland. “He was a great man, a great mayor, governor and comptroller, and did a lot for the state,” said Henry Green of Annapolis. “I …
