Watch your favorite Bowie mascot get down in this popular internet meme.
The wildly popular "Harlem Shake" Internet meme has finally made it's way to the area, into the Bowie Baysox stadium no less. In this YouTube video dated Feb. 20, you can watch Bowie Baysox mascot Louie and several of his costumed pals busting a move to the first 30 seconds DJ Baauer's "Harlem Shake." The video begins with Louie getting down solo. When the bass drops, the scene cuts to Louie and his strangely attired friends dancing in a somewhat haphazard manner. Third-grader Grayson Grigsby was one of the Bowie Baysox winners for its Read and Hit a Home Run poster campaign.
The Bowie Baysox hosted a special assembly to honor a third-grader at the School of Incarnation Friday morning. During the assembly, Baysox mascot Louie and other staff members congratulated third-grader Grayson Grisby, who was the Anne Arundel/Queen Anne’s/Howard County poster design winner. Students from across the area submitted poster designs as part of the Baysox Read and Hit a Home Run Reading Program. Grayson’s poster will be reproduced and placed in every participating school in the three counties. Grayson was also presented with a framed copy of his poster during the assembly. Boxes of food, warm clothing and toys were donated to families in need.
Louie’s Holiday Hope Project, the Bowie Baysox baseball team's program to help local families in need, helped 16 families during the 2012 holiday season, according to a news release. Partnering with the Prince George’s County Fire Department (PGFD), the Bowie Police Department and Bowie Youth & Family Services, the Baysox and the team mascot, Louie, were able to provide the families, which included 39 children, with food, coats and Christmas gifts. “Louie’s Holiday Hope Project had another very successful year of assisting families in need around the holidays,” said Baysox Marketing Director Brandan Kaiser. “Every year this program grows thanks to the great support from the community and all the donations we receive. The team is accepting donations and family nominations for their annual Louie's Holiday Hope Project.
For the sixth consecutive year, the Bowie Baysox are bring back Louie’s Holiday Hope Project to help local families in need during the holiday season. Last year, the the project was able to help 21 families with 48 children and hopes to help even more this year through onigoing partnerships with the Prince George’s County Fire Department, the Bowie Police Department and Bowie Youth & Family services, according to a press release. The program began in 2007 by helping out a couple of local families. Brian Shallcross, the Baysox general manager, is pleased with the program’s growth. “Our partners and our fans have rallied behind Louie through donations and also for finding local families whose holidays we can make a little more enjoyable,” …

One lucky Gambrills resident got to spend Halloween trick-or-treating with Louie.
Cora Fogle, a Gambrills resident, had an extra sweet Halloween treat this year—she and her friends got to spend part of the night trick-or-treating with Bowie Baysox mascot Louie. For two weeks in October, the Bowie Baysox hosted a raffle for Louie’s Holiday Hope Project, which benefits needy families during the holiday season. For $5, you could enter for the chance to win a night of trick-or-treating with Louie. Cora's mom, Carrie Fogle, won the raffle for her daughter, who spent Halloween dressed as a Care Bear. Cora also invited some of her friends, who all got to experience a trick-or-treating party with Louie. The raffle raised more than $100 for Louie’s Holiday Hope Project, according to Baysox Communications Manager Matt Wilson.

Looking for a good scare? Tulip Gulch Production's Doomsday Asylum Haunted House opens at Prince George's Stadium this Friday, Oct. 5 and will run weekends in October and Oct. 29-31. The longest running, locally produced, all volunteer haunted attraction is in its 26th year, and this is the 11th year the event has been hosted at Prince George's Stadium, according to Tulip Gulch Production co-owners Mark Torsani and Gary Fischer. Each year, a portion of proceeds go to support local charities. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 on the Baysox website or for $17 at the door. Dylan Bundy, 19, will be the youngest Orioles player to make a major league debut in more than 40 years.
Bowie Baysox right-handed pitcher Dylan Bundy was called up to the majors Wednesday morning, according to a Baltimore Orioles press release. Bundy made his Baysox debut in August after being called up from Class-A Frederick, and has spent the past several weeks impressing fans and media alike. Following his first minor league season he was named to the Baseball America Minor League All-Star Team and this year he finished his Double-A minor league regular season going 2-0 with a 2.24 ERA in three starts. At just 19 years old, Bundy will be the first Orioles player to make his major league debut before turning 20 since Mike Adamson in 1967, according to the release. Bundy impressed fans, media and Orioles players—Jim Thome was on hand to catch the action—alike by earning a 5-3 victory over the Erie SeaWolves in the outing. The pitching phenom is set to make a move to Bowie.
Dylan Bundy, often touted as one of the Orioles top-rated prospects along with Manny Machado, will reportedly pitch for the Bowie Baysox on Tuesday night. However, as of Tuesday at 3 p.m., the official roster transaction to call up the 19-year-old pitcher from the High-A Frederick Keys to the Baysox was not officially confirmed by the Orioles. The Baltimore Sun reported last week that Bundy would make his debut in Bowie in the first game of a doubleheader against Erie at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday.
