Three suspects escaped the scene with an unknown amount of merchandise from the Bowie Macy's, according to Bowie police.
Three men allegedly drove a conversion van through the north entrance of the Macy’s in Bowie Town Center Friday morning and took an unknown amount of merchandise from the store, Bowie police said. After grabbing the merchandise, the suspects fled the scene in a 1997 Dodge Regency, which they later abandon on the 3400 block of Nottingham Lane, according to the police report. The glass door, door frame and security gate all sustained heavy damage, but no injuries were reported. This is the second incident of people driving a van through a storefront in Bowie Town Center this month. While the Bowie location will close, the new store at the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre will open this summer.
The sign is up on the building and eager customers are peeking in the windows, but Bed Bath & Beyond isn't open yet in Waugh Chapel Towne Centre in Gambrills. The store will host a grand opening celebration on July 14.
TD Bank will celebrate their new energy-efficient store in the Bowie Town Center with a grand opening on Saturday. The bank is targeting LEED Silver certification based on its environmental performance in six areas — use of a sustainable site, low water usage, energy efficiency, use of recycled materials, indoor air quality, and its innovation and design, according to a press release issued by the bank. Lisa Wallace, a 10-year Bowie resident, has been hired to manage the new location and the 10 to 15 employees, which TD Bank also plans to hire locally. After 10 years at the Bowie Town Center, Bed Bath & Beyond will relocate to the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre this fall.
Local shoppers looking for Egyptian cotton sheets or the latest in kitchen gadgetry will be in luck starting this fall. Bed Bath & Beyond, currently located in the Bowie Town Center, is relocating to a new building in Waugh Chapel Towne Centre in Gambrills in a few short months. The company has no plans to open another store in Bowie anytime soon. “We don't plan to have stores in both Crofton and Bowie as the new store location is part of our long-term plans to best serve the market,” Bed Bath & Beyond Marketing Assistant Danielle Sherman wrote in an email to Patch.
