Trek4Tech Raises Money for CMS

Running enthusiasts and families seeking fun gathered at Crofton Middle School to raise money for technology purchases.

Four hundred sixty-four people participated in the second annual Trek4Tech Saturday June 4 to help Crofton Middle School raise money for technology purchases.  Runners participated in a 5K off road race or a 1 K fun run. Participants also enjoyed other activities, such as games, face painting and launching rockets. “It’s been very successful,” said Erika Cornett, treasurer of the Crofton Middle School Parent Teacher Organization, which organized the Trek4Tech.  “We had great community support,” she said.    “The volunteer support was wonderful,” said Monette Bailey, Trek4Tech co-chair. “Everytime we needed something, people would step up,” she said. CMS Trek4Tech Registration Open

Have some fun, enjoy some exercise, and help Crofton Middle School raise some money for technology

When Nantucket Elementary opened its technology-packed classrooms in 2008, it became a local model for how technology could enhance education. It also starkly highlighted just how little technology other Crofton schools possessed.  Crofton Middle School’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is trying to rectify that with its second annual Trek4Tech. Last year, more than 300 people participated and raised approximately $8,000. This year, organizers hope to raise even more money to donate to the CMS PTO Technology Fund. Seventh-grader Andrew Wick ran in last year’s Trek4Tech and plans to run again this year.  “I ran because a lot of my friends were doing it and I like running,” Wick said. “After last year’s race there were a lot more document …
