Police Arrest 3 on Drug Charges in Crofton

More than $2,000 worth of marijuana was seized at a Crofton residence Thursday night, police said.

Three people were arrested on drug-related charges Thursday night after detectives searched a Crofton home. According to Anne Arundel County police, members of the Western District’s Tactical Narcotics Team and Tactical Patrol Unit executed a warrant targeting drug violations in the 1500 block of Verdis Court at about 8:40 p.m. Thursday. Detectives seized about 115.2 grams of suspected marijuana worth $2,304. Nicholas Chuckas, 23, of Crofton and Rebecka Ann Elisa Rooney, 21, of Millersville were both charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and possession of CDS with intent to distribute; Joseph Birch, 23, of Crofton was charged with possession of CDS less then 10 grams—released on a citation.

Traffic Stop Results in Marijuana Bust

Police say an officer smelled marijuana when he pulled a car over for a traffic violation in Crofton.

Two people were arrested Saturday on drug-related charges after a police officer detected a strong marijuana odor coming from the car he'd just pulled over for a traffic stop in Crofton. According to Anne Arundel County police, the incident occurred Saturday at about 9 p.m. when an officer stopped a Volkswagen Jetta on Route 3 South near South Main Chapel Way. After searching the car and its occupants, police seized 44 grams of suspected marijuana worth $440. Police arrested and charged Victoria Allison Boyer, 32, of the 13000 block of Mount Oak Court in Mitchellville and Daniel Enrenrique Olaya, 29, of the 11000 block of Fruitwood Drive in Bowie, with multiple drug-related offenses.

Police: Man on Bike Exposes Himself in Crofton

A report says a man approached a woman on Friday while she was on a walking path, but police were unable to locate him.

A woman walking in the area of Assabet Court and Ashburnham Drive told police a man on a bike exposed himself to her on Friday night. According to a police press release, officers from the Western District responded on Friday about 6:39 p.m. for a report of indecent exposure.  The woman told police that the man, who was riding a red mountain bike, approached her on the walking path and exposed himself before riding out of sight. Police were unable to locate the man. The incident occurred a week after another woman reported that a man attempted to rob her while she was jogging. Police Nab Man in Crofton in Potential Mass Shooting Plot

Police say suspect wore T-shirt that read, "Guns don't kill people, I do."

Police in Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties took a man into custody early Friday in connection with what authorities say could have been a mass shooting plot. The man reportedly made threats against his employer, and police found a cache of weapons at a residence in Crofton. Maj. Edward Bergen of the Anne Arundel County Police Department confirmed during a press conference Friday that the man was taken into custody in Crofton. Bergen said a SWAT team raided the man's home at the 1600 block of Parkridge Circle, where the Keswick Park Apartments are located. Police said the man wore a T-shirt that read: "Guns don't kill people, I do." In apparent reference to the shooting a week ago in Aurora, CO, the man allegedly said at one point …

Theft from Auto Results in 2 Arrests

A witness says two people were tampering with a vehicle on Crofton Boulevard early Tuesday morning, according to police.

Police arrested two people early Tuesday morning after they allegedly removed the catalytic converter from a vehicle in Crofton. Officers from the Western District responded at about 1 a.m. Tuesday to the 1600 block of Crofton Boulevard for a report of two suspects tampering with an automobile. Police reportedly located a car pulling out of the parking lot and an investigation revealed the occupants had two catalytic converters along with miscellaneous power tools in their car. Mark Smith, 26, of the 200 block of Glen Court in Pasadena and Heather Usher, 33, of the 5800 block of 40th Avenue in Hyattsville were charged in connection with this incident. Crofton Man 'Playing Cop' Pulls Over Real Cop

Prince George's County Police arrested a police impersonator from Crofton on Wednesday after he pulled over an off-duty police officer in Upper Marlboro.

A Crofton man was arrested and charged Wednesday for impersonating a police officer in Upper Marlboro. Prince George's County Police (PGPD) said the suspect was driving a white truck southbound on U.S. Route 301, when he tried to pull over a Capitol Heights Police officer, who was driving his personal vehicle near Trade Zone Avenue. When the real police officer identified himself, the suspect told him he was a military officer from Louisiana, according to PGPD. The suspect told the off-duty officer he was speeding, according to reports, but the officer told the suspect he did not have jurisidiction in Upper Marlboro and that the blue and red emergency equipment in his truck was illegal in Maryland. Police Seek Suspect in Wallet Theft

A woman was captured on video using a stolen credit card at the CVS Pharmacy in Crofton.

After a woman reported her wallet stolen in Crofton, police said one of her credit cards was used at a nearby store on Monday afternoon. A woman said her wallet was stolen from her purse in a shopping cart at Giant Food in Crofton on Monday at 3:05 p.m., according to a release from the Anne Arundel County Police Department. Police said that minutes after the alleged theft took place, a suspect was captured on video using a stolen credit card from the victim’s wallet at the CVS Pharmacy. Police Seek Suspect in Attempted Motorcycle Theft

A man was unable to start the motorcycle and fled before police arrived.

  A man attempted to hot-wire a motorcycle parked in a residential area but was unable to get it started on Thursday morning, according to police. The incident occurred around 10:43 a.m. Thursday and involved a Honda 600 motorcycle that was parked in the 1700 block of Gunwood Place in Crofton. The man reportedly fled after he was unable to get the motorcycle started and officers were unable to locate him after canvassing the area. Police said the suspect is described as a black man with dreadlocks, is in his early to mid 20s, and is wearing an all-black or black and red full-face helmet. This is a growing concern in the Crofton area! The police and home owners associations need to take action on this. Many motorcycles including my boyfriends and two of my neighbors have been stolen this year. It is out of control!!
