Crofton leaders came together Friday night to honor those who go above and beyond to improve the community.

The Greater Crofton Community Awards honored eight leaders, volunteers and public servants Friday night. Crofton Rotary Gives 400 Dictionaries to Students

Boschert Remembered as a Marine, Crofton Rotarian and Friend to the Community

The funeral for the former state delegate is Saturday.

A memorial service for former Maryland Del. David G. Boschert is planned for 10 a.m., July 9, at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church in Millersville. Boschert, 63, of Crownsville, died June 30 after recently being diagnosed with both pancreatic and liver cancers. Boschert, a Republican, served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1999 until 2007, representing District 33A. According to his campaign website, he filed to run in June 2010 in District 33A to represent the communities of Severna Park, Crofton, Gambrills, Crownsville and parts of Millersville, Odenton and Davidsonville and Severn. Gazette: Former State Delegate and County Councilman David Boschert Dies

The Former Crofton Rotary Club member, Annapolis native and Crownsville resident was a retired captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and taught political science at Anne Arundel County Community College.

The Maryland Gazette's Earl Kelly reported Friday morning that David G. Boschert, 63, of Crownsville died Thursday evening after recently being diagnosed with both pancreatic and liver cancers. Boschert served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1999 until 2007. According to his campaign website, he filed to run in June 2010 in District 33A to represent the communities of Severna Park, Crofton, Gambrills, Crownsville and parts of Millersville, Odenton and Davidsonville and Severn. He was also a member of the Anne Arundel County Council, serving the 4th District from 1984 through 1994. Boschert was a longtime member of the Crofton Rotary Club.
