Man Sustains Burns in Leaf Blower Accident

A man was rushed to the burn center at Johns Hopkins Bayview after the incident Monday afternoon in Crofton.

A man sustained serious burns in Crofton Monday afternoon in an accident involving a leaf blower.  Lt. Cliff Kooser of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said units responded at 2 p.m. Monday to the 2100 block of Davidsonville Road and treated a man for second- and third-degree burns over 50 percent of his body. The man, approximately 83 years old, had been operating a leaf blower when it caught fire, Kooser said.  The man was transported by ambulance to the burn center at Johns Hopkins Bayview in Baltimore. His injuries were considered serious, but not life threatening. The county fire marshal investigated the incident and determined it to be accidental.
