Seahawk Plays in All-Star Game, Meets Idol

Nick Sia wrapped up his impressive season by finally meeting his idol, Baltimore Orioles' centerfielder Adam Jones.

Before the start of the 2012 baseball season, South River outfield Nick Sia made a deal via Twitter with one of his idols, Adam Jones. Jones agreed that if Sia was selected to the Brooks Robinson game, an end-of-the-year event highlighting the best players in the state, the Orioles centerfield would meet the local teen. On Sunday, Sia’s dream came true. Following the game, the local teen’s smile went ear-to-ear. “I was amazed he actually came to watch the game. He seemed really cool—a genuinely nice guy,” Sia told Patch. Last week, Patch featured the 17-year-old and his personal struggle to compete this season while battling through an early-season injury. After Season-Altering Injury, Seahawk Achieves His Dream

Despite missing the first third of the season, South River's Nick Sia made the All-County team and is set to meet his idol, Adam Jones.

Prior to the start South River’s varsity baseball season, outfielder Nick Sia sent a tweet to one of his idols, the Baltimore Orioles’ Adam Jones, to make a deal. “He agreed that if I make the state championship game or Brooks Robinson game, he’d meet me,” Sia said. Ecstatic about the possibility of meeting his idol, Sia set out to not only meet Jones but also to make the All-County team for a second year in a row while leading his team to the playoffs. But before the eager Seahawk could take the field, Sia’s spring came to a screeching halt.
