Residents of the Four Seasons community will have their chance to hear details on the Two Rivers development plan on Thursday evening. The Four Seasons Community Association has scheduled a meeting with developers to hear more about the proposed development, which calls for 2,060 homes and a new elementary school to the south of the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Waugh Chapel community center. Residents of Piney Orchard last week met with members of the development team, including officials from Koch Homes and Classic Communities Corp. Alex Szachnowicz, the chief operating officer for Anne Arundel County Public Schools, was also in attendance. See also:

Developers and school officials met with the community for about three hours on Wednesday night.
Residents in Piney Orchard on Wednesday got a closer look at plans for more than 2,000 new homes and a new elementary school planned for the southern Odenton/Gambrills area. During a three-hour meeting, community board members and residents raised a series of concerns about proposals from Koch Homes and Classic Community Corp., developers of the project known as Two Rivers. I’d like to provide a rundown of some of the community’s questions and concerns, and how development and school officials responded. Where would the school be located, and why? Developers have offered to build an elementary school valued at about $38 million, in order to accommodate students from the Two Rivers development. The school would be located just to the south …

The community association will host the development team and members of the community on Aug. 8.
The Piney Orchard Community Association will host a meeting on Aug. 8 to get details about plans for the Two Rivers development and new elementary school. The association has invited the members of the development team, including Koch Homes and Classic Communities Corp., to discuss their proposal, which calls for 2,060 homes and the construction of a new school to the south of Piney Orchard. The meeting will be held at the Piney Orchard Community Center at 7 p.m. This will be the first time the developers have met publicly with Piney Orchard residents. POCA President Jeff Andrade said the developers had sought to meet privately with POCA officials first, but that he insisted the meeting be open to community. He said the POCA board has not …

Council member Jamie Benoit (D-District 4) said he's not comfortable with a proposal to put the Two Rivers Elementary School several miles outside of the actual community.
Anne Arundel County Council member Jamie Benoit (D-District 4) said he has some concerns about a proposal for a new school to serve the Two Rivers development, particularly its planned location several miles to the north of the community. Koch Homes and Classic Communities Corp. have plans to build 2,060 homes at the south end of Odenton near the border of Crofton. To accommodate students from the development, they have offered to pay for an elementary school. But current plans call for the school to be located as many as seven miles outside of the Two Rivers development, which Benoit said would be unusual. “I’ve never seen that,” he said. “It would be the first time, to my knowledge, that we built a school that far away from the community…

Plans for new development and a school to the west of Route 3 have the county considering extending the road. What do you think?
There's a lot to digest when it comes to the Two Rivers plan. A new development ith 2,060 homes. A possible new school. And, a possible extension of Evergreen Road right into Piney Orchard. Current plans call for the road to connect to Strawberry Lake Way, actually taking away a portion of GORC Park. (Developers said it will take away about .9 acres, but they'll add two more.) In the early going, the plans for the new road haven't been met warmly by members of the community, who wonder what impact it will have on traffic. They also have questioned why the road has to connect at GORC Park. But some residents said they'd welcome a road extension there, because it would serve as a shortcut to get to the Waugh Chapel shopping centers. Moreover…

The Two Rivers project calls for more than 2,000 new homes. The builders said they'll pay $38 million to accommodate new elementary school students from the project.
A team of developers on Wednesday are expected to present plans to build an elementary school to accommodate a new community near the border of Crofton and southern Odenton. Officials from Koch Homes and Classic Community Cos. said they are prepared to spend more than $38 million for the school, which would be built in the new Two Rivers Community, just to the west of the Waugh Chapel Town Centre. The Anne Arundel County Board of Education will review the proposal at its meeting Wednesday. Follow Odenton-Severn Patch on Facebook and Twitter for up-to-the minute updates from the meeting. The Two Rivers development calls for 2,060 single-family homes over 1,500 acres, with construction set to begin in 2014 and extending to 2023. The project …

The owner of a proposed rubble landfill said he wants more time to get approvals. Residents gathered Thursday to oppose the effort.
Anne Arundel County officials will decide in the next 30 days whether to grant a time extension for a proposed rubble landfill to the south of Piney Orchard. The Capital reported that more than 50 people from Odenton and nearby communities appeared at a hearing Thursday to oppose James Cunningham’s effort to ask for more time to get final approval for the project through the county's office of planning and zoning. Cunningham, who owns the property near the end of Capitol Raceway Road near the borders of Odenton, Crofton and Gambrills, first sought approval for the rubble operation in 1993. Since then, the project has been caught up in litigation and delays in getting approval from the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). …

The owners of a site for a proposed rubble landfill near Capitol Raceway Road will go before Anne Arundel County officials next month to request a time extension to implement their plan. The county will hold a public hearing March 1 to review an application for a variance on the project that dates back nearly 15 years. Several community leaders said they will push the county to reject the application. The case has focused on plans by James Cunningham, who owns the land where the proposed rubble landfill would sit. He has agreed to allow Tolson & Associates to operate the rubble landfill, but the parties are still seeking a permit from the Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) to move forward. Cunningham first applied to build a sand …

@Larry - while it is certainly good to think of POCA without this character, even if his property were to be taken by eminent domain and he was no longer a Piney Orchard homeowner that would, unfortunately, have no impact on his position within POCA. You don't even have to live in or own property in Piney Orchard to be on the Board. This is the case with at least 2 (and perhaps more) members of …   more ›
