Nando's Peri-Peri chicken restaurant is scheduled to open on Dec. 19 at the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre, and is offering area residents a chance to test out the food in advance for free. Diners can reserve spots during "mock services" on Dec. 17 and 18 and pay nothing for their meal, the restaurant said in a press release. To make a reservation, diners must email Nandos@Mackenzie-pr.com. Reservations are available Monday, Dec. 17 from noon to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 18 from noon to 8 p.m. The 3,500 square-foot restaurant will open full to the public on Dec. 19. Could traffic signals on Maryland Route 3 be a sign of progress with the upcoming Waugh Chapel South development?
If you're used to speeding along Crain Highway from Johns Hopkins Road up to the Village at Waugh Chapel, you may want to slow down. Drivers headed northbound on Maryland Route 3 near the Waugh Chapel South development may notice a traffic change. Stop lights are now present on Crain Highway near the Crofton Village Apartments between Johns Hopkins Road and Wellfleet Lane. Wegmans, Target and Dick's Sporting Goods are among the retail shops slated to open on the land this spring according to Greenberg Gibbons Commercial’s website. Hundreds turned out to the Bowie Comfort Inn to apply for jobs at the Target scheduled to open at Waugh Chapel South in Gambrills.
When Target team members open the doors to the Waugh Chapel South store, the staff is expected to be filled with dozens of local new hires. An ensemble of Target employees from around the Washington, DC, suburban communities filled the Comfort Inn Hotel & Conference Center in Bowie to interview applicants. Although the new Target will technically sit in Gambrills, the store has been dubbed “Crofton Target” and “Target Crofton” by residents around the community and hiring manager Jean Caufriez. He said Target hired more than 50 people by Wednesday afternoon. The soon-to-open Target at Waugh Chapel South is hosting a hiring week in Bowie.
If you’re looking to work for the new Target coming to Waugh Chapel South in Gambrills, mark your calendar for next week. Patch previously reported that the store will hire 200 general team members for the new location. Target’s Joe Danahy, told Crofton Patch via email that the retailer plans to host a mass hiring week Jan. 9-12 at the Crain Highway Comfort Inn in Bowie, across the street from the Bowie Target store. The sign is out calling for new hires for the upcoming Target at Waugh Chapel South.
Southbound drivers along Maryland Route 3 may notice a “Now Hiring” sign near the sight of the new Target. The store, which is scheduled to open on March 11, is now looking to hire 14 team leaders/department managers who would start Jan. 6 in preparation for the grand opening. The new Target in Crofton will be on southbound Route 3 north of the Kmart shopping center, which is 6 1/2 miles north of the Bowie Target on Route 3. The new store is also south of the Village at Waugh Chapel shopping center.

Commonly referenced as “Waugh Chapel South,” the development will sit adjacent to the Village at Waugh Chapel. The development is along southbound Maryland Route 3.
