It wasn't a white Christmas, but snow started falling around Anne Arundel County on Wednesday. The county is under a winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service (NWS) until 1 p.m. "A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties," according to the release. "Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities." NWS stated that people should expect a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Forecasters predict that a mix of freezing rain and sleet will continue throughout the afternoon. The advisory extends to Northern Baltimore, Harford, Montgomery, Howard and Prince Georges counties. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain beginning at 11 p.m. Friday and continuing to about 1 a.m. Saturday. The precipitation is expected to begin as snow and sleet with a light coating of up to one inch of snow in certain areas before changing to freezing rain and then rain overnight before ending later Saturday, according to the weather service. The temperatures Friday evening should be in the upper 20s and lower 30s. The highs on Saturday are forecasted to be in the upper 30s and lower 40s with winds of about 5 to 10 mph.
