Turkey Trots: Run in the Morning, Feast Later

Do you want pig out on Thanksgiving without the guilt?

Think about signing up for one of the many "Turkey Trot" runs this weekend or on Thanksgiving morning. There are several runs in the area, and in most cases the entrance fee goes to support a good cause. 

Saturday

Fort Meade Turkey Trot
Where: Murphy Field House, Fort Meade
Start: 8 a.m.
Fee: $25
Benefits: Fort Meade MWR

Stride for SPAN Turkey Trot
Where: Kinder Farm Park
Start: 8:30 a.m.
Fee: $35 for the 5k, $20 for the 1-mile walk.
Benefits: Severna Park Action Network (SPAN)



Thanksgiving Morning

Archbishop Spalding Cavalier Turkey Trot
Where: Archbishop Spalding High School
Start: 8:30 a.m.
Fee: $15 or $30 with a shirt
Benefits: Spalding cross country and track teams


Camp Letts Turkey Chase
Where: 4003 Camp Letts Rd., Edgewater
Start: 8:30 a.m.
Fee: $35 for the 5k, $40 for the 10k
Benefits: Underprivileged kids/Camp Letts Community Caring program.

Turkey Trot to Benefit LARS
Where: First United Methodist Church in Laurel 
Start: 8 a.m.
Fee: $35
Benefits: Laurel Advocacy and Referral Services
