Caribou Coffee in Gambrills To Become a Peet's

Caribou is switching brands at most of its outlets in the Baltimore area, including the location at the Village at Waugh Chapel.

The Caribou Coffee in Gambrills will become a Peet's Coffee and Tea, as the chain switches brands at most of its locations in the Baltimore area.

The Baltimore Sun, citing store employees, reported that three area Caribou locations will become Peet's, while one store in Reisterstown will close.

Caribou and Peet's were both purchased by the same German holding company, Joh. A Beckinser, last year.

Caribou CEO Mike Tattersfield said in a statement that a total of 88 coffee shops in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Illinois and eastern Wisconsin would convert to Peet's over the next 12 to 18 months.

Peet's currently operates stores on the west coast and in Massachusetts, Illinois and Chicago. The greatest concentration of Peet's stores is in the San Francisco area, where it was founded in 1966.
